“Work To Do”

Initially I was thinking of Vanessa Williams’ version of the song BUT I would be remiss if I didn’t provide a short R&B history lesson and point out that it was written and first recorded by the Isley Brothers in 1972. THEN Average White Band recorded a version of it in 1974. Full disclosure, another group The Main Ingredient (“Everybody Plays The Fool”) recorded a version in 1973 and another artist, Mayer Hawthorne (??) covered it in 2011. Right. Moving on…

I need to take a moment and point out that Vanessa Williams is a BEAST! First, she came on the scene as the First Black Miss America, then there was a scandal because of the playboy pictures and she got her crown taken away but she didn’t let that derail her from her journey! Naw honey, she kept it moving and launched a legit music career AND THEN hit ‘em with the acting chops which she is still doing!! I don’t know about you but I’m a huge fan. DO IT MA!!
